“…El número de procedimientos bariátricos ha ido en aumento debido a dos factores principalmente: el aumento en la prevalencia de sobrepeso y obesidad de la población y la evidencia que sugiere que estos procedimientos son el mejor tratamiento para lograr una pérdida de peso sostenida 1,2 . En la población mexicana el porcentaje de adultos mayores de 20 años con sobrepeso y obesidad es del 75.2% según lo descrito por Levi et al 3 ; Zerrweck et al refieren que los procedimientos bariátricos más frecuentemente realizados en México son el bypass gástrico en Y de Roux (BGYR) y la gastrectomía vertical en manga (MG) con 45.6 y 44.7% respectivamente 4 . A pesar de los amplios beneficios de la cirugía bariátrica, se estima que la mayoría de los pacientes sometidos a BGYR recuperarán entre el 20 y el 30% del peso que perdieron inicialmente y un tercio de los pacientes recuperaran casi todo el peso perdido, destacando como causas principales la dilatación de la gastro-yeyuno anastomosis y la fístula gastro-gástrica 5,6 .…”
