Basic parameter extraction from an organic solar cell through the single diode model and a metaheuristic technique with the Lambert W function

Abstract: Recently solar power has increasingly been used to generate electricity worldwide through photovoltaic (PV) systems. The electrical performance of each PV module plays major role in maximum power transfer. In order to absorb the maximum power from such systems, optimal output voltage and current should be obtained from the I-V characteristics of previously developed models. It is fact that, this is a relatively uneasy task because manufacturer's data sheet is confined to limited number of measured values. In t… Show more

“…By assuming high approaching infinity, the model is simplified to a four-parameter model by neglecting the shunt resistance [ 36 ]. By using Lambert W function, an analytical form of cell current as a function of voltage is used to extract the cell ideality factor , series resistance and shunt resistance [ 37 , 38 , 39 ]. The equation can be solved using different numerical methods of curve fitting such as Newton’s methods [ 40 ] and Levenberg-Marquard [ 41 ].…”

“…Various diode approximation-based models have been proposed to represent the electrical behaviour of OPV cells [14,19]. The ideal equivalent model and a more realistic equivalent model that takes into account non-idealities are presented in the next sections.…”
