Bayesian optimization for tuning chaotic systems

Abstract: Abstract. In this work, we consider the Bayesian optimization (BO) approach for tuning parameters of complex chaotic systems. Such problems arise, for instance, in tuning the sub-grid scale parameterizations in weather and climate models.
