Show more

“…This motivational discrepancy arising from diverging risk-value constructions that seemingly impede the closure of loops supports the argument of Hagelüken [26] that in times of low raw material prices, including of the REE, it is the role of the government to engage with strong leadership and bring measures into place that frame the risk-value construction so that the closure of loops is incentivized. This has been observed in initiatives for other forms of materials recycling.…”

“…), available recycling infrastructure as well as quality and cost-effectiveness of the recycling processes used (technical, environmental and social performance; available quantities/economies of scale), legislation, monitoring and enforcement, and cooperation between stakeholders (manufacturers, retailers, users, take-back systems, logistics, recyclers). The following are some examples of external factors that can be considered as external incentives for collection and recycling (Hagelüken 2017 ).…”

“…The separated materials are then sorted again to produce homogeneous quantities of as high a quality as possible. These are cleaned and processed by shaping processes into secondary material, e.g., in the form of blocks or granules [34,[46][47][48].…”

“…For economic circulation of products and materials appropriate flows of input products to re-use, repair, refurbishing/remanufacturing and recycling processes are needed. In order to be reused, reconditioned or recycled, products must be captured by suitable take-back-systems and brought to the next, appropriate cycle actor [46,50]. To manage associated transport and storage processes and to match existing cycle capacities (e.g., regarding recycling and refurbishing locations) and products, information regarding the condition of a specific product and its location is needed besides processes such as transport, storage and handling of products within and between different cycle phases (Table 10).…”
