“…Several other jaw conditions [Hamner et al, 1968;Waldron et al, 1975;Melrose et al, 1976;Lyons, 1955;Jacobson and Hollender, 1980;Cannon et al, 1980;Sedano et al, 19821, unassociated with systemic abnormalities, are radiographically indistinguishable from the radiopaque lesions found in the form of 0 1 described here. The microscopic characteristics of the jaw lesions in some of these disorders are similar to those in our patients.…”

“…Because of the inadequate blood supply to the sclerotic masses, they may be prone to infection, either in extraction sites or through ulceration in the overlying mucosa. Once infected, large areas may sequestrate despite antibiotic therapy, a characteristic also found in patients with non-familial cemento-osseous dysplasia [Hamner et al, 1968;Waldron et al, 19751. Removing the sequestra will often result in uneventful healing. Thus, patients with the form of 01 described here should be followed closely in order to maintain the teeth in their best state of health.…”

“…This lesion was known by a variety of names like osteofibrous dysplasia, non osteogenic fibroma, cemento-ossifying fibroma, osteofibroma, fibro-osteoma, benign fibro osseous lesion of periodontal ligament origin. It was also known as osteofibrousdysplasia which was first described by Campanacci [12], where the lesion involved the tibia and fibula [13]. Jaffe and Lichtenstein described the above condition as nonosteogenic fibroma, popularly known as ''Jaffe-Campanacci syndrome'' [14].…”

“…Jaffe and Lichtenstein described the above condition as nonosteogenic fibroma, popularly known as ''Jaffe-Campanacci syndrome'' [14]. However, the term OF of jaw bones is being used since 1927 [13]. In 1968, OF's of jaw bones were first classified by 'Hemner' and cementum containing tumors were also grouped under them.…”

“…OF have been more frequently observed in the third and fourth decades of life and has a higher incidence in the black population. [29][30][31] In our series, we had two cases aged 20 and 22 years.…”
