Benzalkonium Chloride–Induced Denervation of Orbicularis Oculi Muscle in Rabbits

Abstract: BAK causes denervation when injected into the OOM in rabbits. The clinical relevance of this finding may be the onset of lagophthalmos and eyelid retraction in patients with chronic BAK exposure.
