Beyond LLM in M-theory

Abstract: The Lin, Lunin, Maldacena (LLM) ansatz in D = 11 supports two independent Killing directions when a general Killing spinor ansatz is considered. Here we show that these directions always commute, identify when the Killing spinors are charged, and show that both their inner product and resulting geometry are governed by two fundamental constants. In particular, setting one constant to zero leads to AdS 7 × S 4 , setting the other to zero gives AdS 4 ×S 7 , while flat spacetime is recovered when both these const… Show more

“…We will see however that the resulting eleven-dimensional pp-wave does not belong to the class of bubbling M-theory SO(3) × SO(6) geometries of [19]. In particular, contrary to [19], our elevendimensional pp-wave background has vanishing four-form flux and is consistent with the analysis of [25]. From its asymptotic behaviour we conclude that it describes a vev deformation of the BFSS matrix model.…”

“…This two-branch structure for 1/2-BPS solutions with SO(2, 2) × SO(4) × SO(4) isometry was first discovered in[18]. A similar result showing the existence of different branches of 1/2-BPS solutions with the isometry SO(4, 2) × SO(3) was found in[24].…”

“…These would be dual to a family of CFTs which would interpolate as a function of c from the 3-dimensional ABJM theory to the 6-dimensional CFT 6 . We note that any such interpolation must pass through a decompactification limit (a similar decompactification occurs in the generalized LLM solutions discussed in [41]). To support this idea, we note that in [42,43,44], there has been some progress on the CFT side in extracting some of the known CFT 6 data from massive ABJM theory [45,46].…”
