“…In the present study, it was observed that there was a greater preference for piglets for the rope soaked with vanilla essence and sugar. A possible justification for this result would be the fact that this rope is the most palatable for piglets since piglets prefer sweeter flavors (Chen et al 2020). Swine are animals with an extremely sensitive taste sense and have approximately 19,000 taste buds, a number three times greater than humans (Hellekant and Danilova 1999).…”

“…According to Hellekant and Danilova (1999), there is a positive correlation between the number of papillae and the ability to taste, in this sense, pigs are more effective in feeling the taste compared to humans. Besides, pigs have a great capacity to differentiate flavors (Foppa et al 2014), for this reason, the initial diets in the nursery phase tend to have dairy compounds and flavoring substances in their composition (Jacela et al 2010;Chen et al 2020). The preference of piglets for the rope with vanilla essence and sugar shows that is a possibility to use other objects for environmental enrichment with this flavor that can easier attract the piglets and, hence, will be more efficient in distracting the animals, consequently improving the welfare of these animals.…”

“…due to its high sweetness, low calories, good stability and non-toxicity. In medicine aspect, it has been shown that NHDC possesses the e cacy of protecting the liver [1], lowering blood sugar and blood lipids [2,3], improving the intestinal probiotic ora [4], anti-in ammatory [5], and antioxidant [6]. Just because of its wide-ranging application in the eld of food additive and pharmaceutical adjuvant, the control of its content is the key link during the whole process of production.…”

“…These are herbs, spices, or plant extracts that are known to contain antioxidant, antimicrobial, coccidiostatic, anthelmintic, and immunostimulant properties when added to animals’ diet [ 1 ]. Phytogenics commonly used in poultry include oregano ( Origanum vulgare ), rosemary ( Rosmarinus officinalis ), sage ( Salvia officinalis ), thyme ( Thymus vulgaris ), and stevia ( Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni), plants that improve production efficiency and have an effect on the health of the birds studied [ 2 , 3 ].…”
