Bi-level Coordinated Planning of Active Distribution Network Considering Demand Response Resources and Severely Restricted Scenarios

Abstract: Due to the uncertainty and fluctuation of distributed generation (DG) and load, the operation of active distribution network (ADN) is affected by multi-dimension factors which are described by massive operation scenarios. Efficient and accurate screening of severely restricted scenarios (SRSs) has become a new challenge in ADN planning. In this paper, a novel bi-level coordinated planning model which combines the short-time-scale operation problem with the long-time-scale planning problem is proposed. At the u… Show more

“…The authors of [13] formulated bi-level programming as a feasible solution methodology for the generation and distribution expansion planning problem, considering expansion planning in the upper level and decisions connected with the flexibility of the demand in the lower level. Similarly, in [14], the demand response resource is co-optimized with the configuration of lines and energy storage devices to achieve the economic trade-off between the investment cost and the operational cost. With feedback from planning problems, operational problems are resolved at a lower level to decrease daily operational costs.…”

“…With feedback from planning problems, operational problems are resolved at a lower level to decrease daily operational costs. The methodologies described in [13] and [14] are bi-level detailed operational and investment models, where the upper level problem is constrained by the lower level.…”

“…The planning target values of the above three indexes vary with the different power supply zones. Generally, the power supply enterprises formulate corresponding planning objectives according to the five types of power supply zones [15], which can be selected according to the actual situation in specific application.…”

“…By signing the demand response contract, the incentive DR can impel users to interrupt part of electricity load during peak load periods to achieve the discharge effect of virtual energy storage. The cost of incentive demand response includes contracted capacity fee and electricity fee (Huang et al, 2021). When signing the demand response contract, the integrated energy system pays the user the contracted capacity fee for the demand-side response, which can be expressed by…”
