Bibliometric mapping of top papers in Library and Information Science based on the Essential Science Indicators Database

This study analyzed top papers published in the field of Library and Information Science (LIS) published between 2009 and 2019 and included in the Web of Science (WoS) subject category “Information Science & Library Science”. Data of the 501 top papers were extracted from the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database comprising 499 highly cited papers and 16 hot papers in the field. The distributions of document type, language of publication, scientific output, and publication of journals are reported in this paper. The co-authorship network visualization of authors, organizations and countries, co-occurrence network visualization of all keywords are visualized using VOSviewer software. The 501 papers, all written in English language, were from 1,579 authors employed at 680 organizations based in 59 countries/territories. The papers were published in 40 journals in the field. The top 5 core journals ranked based on the impact factor (IF) were MIS Quarterly, Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association, International Journal of Information Management, Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology, and Information Management. The top 5 organizations were University of Maryland (USA), University of Wolverhampton (UK), Vanderbilt University (USA), Indiana University (USA), and Wuhan University (China). Authors from the following countries contributed the most - USA, People’s Republic of China, England, Canada and Netherlands. Based on network map using VOSviewer, there were micro, meso and macro level collaborations based on common interests in a specific topics. Analysis of all keywords showed that the research were distributed into 6 clusters. This study concludes that one important characteristic of top papers is the journal reputation, therefore authors can choose their ideal journal with a high JIF and quartile to publish papers in the English language related to this research field.

The aim of this study is to examine the publication profile of the journal through content analysis according to various parameters of the articles published in the journal of Research in Educational Administration & Leadership (REAL). The research is a qualitative research conducted as a case study. The articles published in the journal up to April 2021, which started publication in 2016, form the sample of the research. The data obtained by examining 90 articles in the sample in terms of year of publication, subject, research approach, sample, method, model/design, data collection methods, data analysis methods, number of authors, the institutions of the authors, the countries of the authors, the titles of the authors, the number of articles by the authors in the journal, the number of citations, self-citations of the authors, self-citations of the journal, number of citations, average evaluation time of the journal parameters were analyzed using content analysis. With the detailed findings obtained as a result of the research, the determination of the current publication characteristics, the journal identity, trends, development level and a section of the educational administration discipline specific to the journal at a micro level In this study, the identity of the field of educational administration at the macro level was tried to be determined. Suggestions were made to take strategic decisions for the next issues regarding the development process of the journal.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Mevlâna Celâleddin Rumî ile ilgili akademik yayınların bibliyometrik göstergeler açısından incelenmesidir. Araştırmada, nitel araştırma desenlerinden durum çalışması tercih edilmiştir. Çalışmanın verileri, Elsevier Scopus bibliyometrik veri tabanı aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Araştırmada veriler bibliyometrik analiz tekniği ile çözümlenmiştir. Çalışmada anahtar kelime ağ analizi VOSviewer (Version 1.6.9) paket programı kullanılarak yapılmış ve görselleştirilmiştir. Sonuç olarak Mevlâna ile ilgili yayınların 1924-2003 yılları arasında az olduğu, 2006 yılı ile birlikte araştırma sayısının arttığı görülmüştür. Belge türüne göre yayınların çoğunluğunun makale türünde olduğu belirlenmiştir. Araştırmaların yayın dilinin genellikle İngilizce olduğu gözlenmiştir. Bir diğer veriye göre 45 farklı kurumdan araştırmacının konu ile ilgili yayın yaptığı tespit edilmiştir. Yayınlar çoğunlukla tek yazar tarafından üretilmiştir. Mevlâna ile ilgili çalışmalarda en etkin ülke Türkiye'dir. Türk Kültürü ve Hacı Bektaş Velî Araştırma Dergisi ile Millî Folklor'un alana en çok katkı sunan dergiler olduğu saptanmıştır. Alanyazındaki çalışmalarda en sık atıf yapılan kaynak türünün kitap, çoğunlukla tartışılan konu alanının ise tasavvuf olduğu görülmüştür.
