“…This indicates that high‐dose ethanol intoxication seems to reduce the degree of conflict in situations where switching processes are ‘self‐initiated’ and need to be recalled out of memory. With regard to the behavioral results, it can therefore be assumed that strongly demanding situations, like memory‐based switching processes, need a certain amount of cognitive control (Stock and Beste ; Stock et al ; Stock et al ) in order to result in diminished switch costs and thus in increased performance.
