“…The contact angles of PEI‐modified adsorbent nanocomposites decreased. This result originated from the hydrophilic character of the NH and NH 2 groups in the PEI chains on the adsorbent nanocomposites surface . The results are given in Table and Supporting Information Figure S6.…”

“…[10b] Surprisingly, the probable reaction of S‐ or N‐nucleophiles at position 2 of the indole quinone was never taken into account. Reactions with thiols or amines have found exceptionally many applications in linking applicatory functions to PDA because amino or thiol groups occur in peptides and proteins at the one hand or can easily be introduced into the entity to be linked (for some recent examples see references). The incorporation of NH 2 or SH containing nucleophiles into PDA can alternatively be performed in situ , i.e.…”

“…Two kinds of PFC-PDA nanoparticles (PFP-PDA or PFH-PDA) were fabricated via a facile method. The PFC nanodroplets were encapsulated into PDA nanoparticles during polymerization of DA in alkaline solution . In order to enhance the stability of PFC-PDA NPs, polyethylene glycol (PEG-NH 2 ) was used to stabilize the nanoparticles via the Michael addition and/or the Schiff base reaction, forming PFP-PDA-PEG and PFH-PDA-PEG NPs, respectively.…”

Figure S1A,B shows that the hydrodynamic sizes of PFP-PDA and PFH-PDA were 210 and 255 nm, respectively.…”
