Biodisponibilidade e classificação de compostos fenólicos

Abstract: Os compostos fenólicos são metabólitos secundários sintetizados abundantemente no reino vegetal e amplamente estudados. Show more

“…Among bioactive compounds, phenolic compounds can be highlighted, which are molecules containing a phenol group (functional hydroxyl group in aromatic ring) and can have a high antioxidant content. These aromatic molecules act as defense agents to the stresses caused to vegetables and fruits, giving greater astringency, color and flavor to these foods (Arnoso et al, 2019). Phenolics make up a group with widely diversified structures, with more than 8000 molecules currently known, which Research, Society and Development, v. 11, n. 6, e55211629315, 2022 (CC BY 4.0) | ISSN 2525-3409 | DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.33448/rsd-v11i6.29315 8 can range from simple phenolic molecules, such as gallic acid (Fig.…”

“…Research on natural compounds aimed at boosting the host's immunity holds promise for maintaining overall health and improving clinical signs and biochemical markers, with various beneficial properties for humans and animals, including the maintaining of a well-balanced oral microbiota (Mooney et al, 2021). The constant search for preventive health strategies, which help medical treatments and bring quality of life, has led researchers to study phytochemicals, which are abundant in foods such as fruit, vegetables and legumes, as their constant consumption helps fight diseases due to their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory actions, acting as protectors of the body (Arnoso et al, 2019).…”
