“…Since the postindependence era, large‐scale mining in Sub‐Saharan Africa countries has been increasing, yet empirical information on post‐mining landscape restoration remains scarce (Festin et al, 2019; Venkateswarlu et al, 2016). In Kenya, with exception of very few cases such as the exhausted quarries of Bamburi Haller Park, Mombasa (Siachoono, 2010), most post‐quarry sites are minimally rehabilitated and then abandoned after closure of mining.
