Biological Evaluation of Alkyl Triphenylphosphonium Ostruthin Derivatives as Potential Anti-Inflammatory Agents Targeting the Nuclear Factor κB Signaling Pathway in Human Lung Adenocarcinoma A549 Cells

Abstract: Ostruthin (6-geranyl-7-hydroxycoumarin) is one of the constituents isolated from Paramignya trimera and has been classified as a simple coumarin. We recently reported the synthesis of alkyl triphenylphosphonium (TPP) derivatives from ostruthin and evaluated their anticancer activities. In the present study, we demonstrated that alkyl TPP ostruthin derivatives inhibited the up-regulation of cell-surface intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) in human lung adenocarcinoma A549 cells stimulated with tumor necr… Show more

“…Ostruthin has been isolated from the roots of Paramignya trimera, with antidepressive and anxiolytic effects (Joseph et al 2018;An et al 2021). In addition, alkyl triphenylphosphonium ostruthin, a derivative of ostruthin, has the potential as an antiinflammatory (Vo et al 2021) and cytotoxic (Dang et al 2020). The diversity of phytochemical compounds in the Luvunga genus Phytochemical diversity is the source of medicine.…”

“…A pCR3 expression vector encoding C-terminal FLAG-tagged human TNF-R1 was previously described [47]. A pGL4.22[luc2CP/Puro] vector containing the ICAM-1 promoter (−1604 to +40) was previously described [55]. A pCR3 expression vector encoding CMV promoter-driven Renilla luciferase was previously described [56].…”
