Biomarkers in connective tissue diseases

Abstract: Autoimmune connective tissue diseases are clinically variable, making biomarkers desirable for assessing future disease risk, supporting early and accurate diagnosis, monitoring disease activity and progression, selecting therapeutics, and assessing treatment response. Because of their correlations with specific clinical characteristics and often with disease progression, autoantibodies and other soluble mediators are considered potential biomarkers. Additional biomarkers may reflect downstream pathological pr… Show more

“…In RA, ongoing research is focused on finding biomarkers for diagnosis, prognosis, treatment selection, and optimized therapy (Jog & James, ). Two of the most common autoantibodies in patients with RA are rheumatoid factor (RF), directed against the Fc portion of the IgG class of antibodies, and antibodies against citrullinated proteins (ACPAs).…”

“…69,70 Autoantibodies have been widely used by rheumatologists as a clinical tool in the diagnosis of underlying CTDs. 71 The detection of these autoantibodies often plays a crucial role in the diagnostic workflow of NSIP, as it is the most common form seen in CTD-ILD. Its presence may assist the diagnosis of a previously unrecognized occult CTD and would have major implications for the subsequent management and prognosis of such patients.…”

“…Изучение динамики цитокинового профиля имеет важное значение для мониторинга и прогнозирования эффективности терапии ГИБП [35,[382][383][384]. Нами исследованы динамика концентрации аутоантител и цитокинов у больных РА через 12 и 24 нед на фоне терапии препаратом Ацеллбия ® в сопоставлении с препаратом Мабтера ® у 54 пациентов с РА.…”
