In education, there are still many problems with the performance of employees, school principals, or education providers that are not satisfactory. In a country, quality human resources will provide the welfare of its people. Therefore, improving the welfare of the Indonesian people must be based on the development of quality services and education. This study aims to describe the distribution of tutors, assess their professionalism, and produce policy recommendations for the Open University in general. This type of research is a survey with a research sample of 258 tutors, namely 127 male (49.2%) and 131 female (50.8%). The instrument used is a professionalism questionnaire comprising six constructs with a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.924. The technique used to analyze the data is quantitative descriptive analysis and inferential statistics. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between income, age, years of service, rank, and professional work status (P<0.05), but there was no relationship between gender and professionalism (P>0.05). This study recommends the need to recruit new tutors considering that many tutors are over 50 years old. There are also some tutors with Bachelor's degrees who need to be upgraded to tutors with Masters or even Doctoral degrees.

Gamified Instructional Media has recently been widely used in the education sector to improve students' abilities. Using Gamified Instructional Media at the elementary school level becomes more interesting because it is in accordance with the way children learn K1-K6. The research aims to identify the gamified instructional using Genially to improve students' critical and creative thinking skills. A quasi-experimental method was applied using a nonequivalent control group research design. The research subject is 40 students of Public Primary School in Pekanbaru. The results show a significant effect of the gamified instructional learning using Genially toward students' critical and creative thinking skills. Besides, there is a significant difference in students' critical and creative thinking skills between the control and experimental group. This study implies that gamified instructional media with Genially can support teachers and teaching practices.

Secondary School Students’ Cognitive Structure and Misconception in Respiration Topic

Purpose of the study: This study aims to explore the cognitive structures and identify the misconceptions experienced by secondary school students in the respiration topic. Methodology: This study is a qualitative study. The instruments used for data collection were the Word Association Test (WAT) and the Questionnaire of Writing Sentence (QWS). The data obtained were in word form. The breakpoint technique was used to analyze the data for WAT while the data for QWS were analyzed by category. Purposive sampling was applied in this study. A total of 23 forms four students comprising 12 boys and 11 girls participated in this study. Main Findings: The result showed that the students’ cognitive structures in the respiration topic were incomplete. The students were unable to form a comprehensive relationship for the given keywords, and there were also weak or incorrect associations. The misconceptions that had been identified are largely related to the keywords about cell respiration, anaerobic respiration, and breathing mechanism. Applications of this study: This study provides insights into the students’ cognitive structures and misconceptions about respiration. Thus, it will be useful for teachers in planning their teaching strategies so that they can improve the students’ cognitive structures as well as avoid misconceptions. Novelty: Most of the previous studies only focused on the identification of misconceptions without further investigation into the students’ cognitive structures, especially on the respiration topic. Thus, this study investigates the cognitive structures and misconceptions specifically among secondary school students who have learned respiration in biology.
