Biopharmaceutical applications of nanogold

Abstract: The application of nanogold in biopharmaceutical field is reviewed in this work. The properties of nanogold including nanogold surface Plasmon absorption and nanogold surface Plasmon light scattering are illustrated. The physical, chemical, biosynthesis methods of nanogold preparation are presented. Catalytic properties as well as biomedical applications are highlighted as one of the most important applications of nanogold. Biosensing, and diagnostic and therapeutic applications of gold nanoparticles are evalu… Show more

“…Particles which have two or more dimensions in size range as 1-100 nm or one billionth part of a meter are defined as one nanoparticles (NPs) [1]. NPs have a unique chemical and physical properties as compared to their solid bulk materials because of their high surface area and electronic properties.…”

“…Gold nanoparticles exhibit different shapes such as spherical, sub-octahedral, octahedral, decahedral, icosahedral multiple twined, multiple twined, irregular shape, tetrahedral, nanotriangles, nanoprisms, hexagonal platelets, and nanorods, which are shown in Figure 2. Among the various shapes triangular-shaped nanoparticles show attractive optical properties compared with the spherical-shaped nanoparticles [30,58,[63][64][65][66][67][68][69][70][71][72]. …”
