Braille—Implications for Living

Abstract: This article develops two contrasting themes: 1) the prime importance of braille as the only medium of literacy available to blind persons; and 2) the widely perceived de-emphasis of braille instruction in the United States. Attention is also directed to the importance of braille in contributing to the quality of life attainable by blind persons.
