Breaking ofN=8magicity in13Be

Abstract: The structure of 13 Be was investigated with antisymmetrized molecular dynamics. The variation after spin and parity projections was performed. An unnatural parity 1/2 − state was suggested to be lower than the 5/2 + state indicating that vanishing of the N = 8 magic number occurs in 13 Be. A low-lying 3/2 + state with a 2hω configuration was also suggested. Developed cluster structures were found in the intruder states. The lowering mechanism of the intruder states was discussed in terms of molecular orbitals… Show more

“…, 6 are superposed in order to describe all (0p) 2 configurations of valence neutrons coupled to be 0 + and 2 + states of 6 He in the α + 6 He wave function (see Ref. [44] for the details of configurations). It should be commented that the α + 6 He model treats each configuration of (p 3/2 ) 2 and (p 1/2 ) 2 as well as their mixing in the 6 He cluster.…”

“…We apply the antisymmetrized molecular dynamics (AMD), which has already been successfully applied to the breaking of neutron magic number N = 8 [27][28][29] and 20 [30][31][32], combined with the generator coordinate method (GCM) using generator coordinates of the quadrupole deformation parameters β and γ . We use the Hamiltonian,…”
