“…In this equation valid up to order 2, we can replace S by its first-order approximation (23), since it is multiplied by D which is itself at least of order 1. We therefore obtain at the second order in the small parameters…”

“…This novel state of matter, known as a quantum droplet, was realized experimentally in [19,20], and the link between these 3D droplets and 1D solitons was clarified in [21]. Interestingly, the role of quantum fluctuations is known to be enhanced in low dimensions, resulting in quantum droplet states with properties distinct from the 3D case, both at equilibrium [22] and close to equilibrium [23].…”

“…The theoretical modeling of droplets in atomic systems is achieved through an extended Gross-Pitaevskii (eGPE) framework [1,25] which has been utilized to probe a plethora of their properties. In short-range bosonic mixtures that we investigate herein, these include, but are not limited to, their inelastic collisions [26,27], structural deformations from a Gaussian-shape to a flat-top profile [27], the behavior of their collective modes [27][28][29][30][31][32], the triggering of modulational instability events [33] and their statistical mechanics [34], as well as the effects of thermal instabilities [35][36][37]. Beyond LHY correlation effects have also been discussed by considering self-consistently higher-order corrections [38][39][40][41][42] revealing, for instance, slight alterations in the breathing frequency or an enhancement of the expansion velocity.…”

“…On the theoretical side, droplets have been found to emerge also in Bose-Fermi mixtures with [18] and without spin-orbit coupling [19,20], as well as in Bose-Bose mixtures in the presence of three-body interactions [21,22]. Moreover, collective excitations [23] and the properties of topological excitations [24][25][26][27][28] e.g. vortices [24] embedded in a droplet background have been investigated to a certain extent.…”
