“…Antibacterial medications were abstracted by matching drug names with the Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical (ATC) classification system (World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Drug Statistics Methodology) [ 23 ] to identify drug categories. Second-generation cephalosporins (J01DC), third-generation cephalosporins (J01DD), fourth-generation cephalosporins (J01DE), fluoroquinolones (J01MA), macrolides (J01FA, except erythromycin J01FA01), penicillins with extended-spectrum (J01CA), combinations of penicillins including beta-lactamase inhibitors (J01CR), carbapenems (J01DH), and streptomycins (J01GA) were classified as broad-spectrum antibiotics [ 19 , 24 , 25 ].
