Briquetting of rattan furniture waste

Abstract: Brill profit levels and organic growth in line with expectations, integration V&R according to plan and continuation of eBusiness growth Update on year-to-date performance During the third quarter Brill's eBusiness continued its strong growth, driven by eBooks and digital primary sources. This growth compensated for the ongoing decline in print books. YTD Journal sales declined mainly due to delayed invoicing, which is expected to be recovered in Q4, and continuing IT problems at our UK based distributor. Over… Show more

“…Size of the particles for briquettes is an important parameter affecting their stability. [43] To achieve a compact and closely packed structure of biomass material, it is necessary to have the particle size as small as possible. The hard shell of biomass residue can be made into minute particles with irregular shapes and can be used with nonfibrous residues to increase the bonding and agglomeration characteristics.…”

“…Briquettes are not a new concept, in actual fact they are becoming well established in the field various authors have studied the feasibility of briquetting different residues and investigated important parameters involved in briquette manufacture. This has involved the effect of compressive pressure, material moisture content, the time the material is in compression (dwell time), and binder content on briquette durability, mechanical strength, density, handling characteristics and the relaxation behaviour of the briquette when taken out of the mould (Olorunnisola, 2004;Chin and Siddiqui, 2000;Demirbas, 1999). Briquetting of biomass process simply means compressing the material to increase its density and to enhance its handling characteristics.…”

“…Briquette production have the potential of meeting the additional energy demands of urban and industrial sectors, thereby making a significant contribution to the economic advancement of countries especially the developing countries. Furthermore, briquettes have advantages over fuel wood in terms of greater heat intensity, clean production, convenience, and relatively smaller space requirement for storage [5]. The amount of energy required for various purposes keep on increasing due to the increase in demand.…”
