Bromobismuthates of 1,1'-(1,N-Alkanediyl)bis(picolines): Synthesis, Thermal Stability, Crystal Structures, and Optical Properties

Abstract: Hybrid bromobismuthates of N-alkylated derivatives of 2-and 3-methylpyridine, (C 15 H 20 N 2 ) 2 Bi 2 Br 10 (I), (C 17 H 24 N 2 ) 2 Bi 2 Br 10 (II), (C 18 H 26 N 2 ) 3 (Bi 2 Br 9 ) 2 (III), (C 14 H 18 N 2 )(H 3 O)BiBr 6 • 2H 2 O (IV), (C 14 H 18 N 2 ) 2 BiBr 6 IBr 2 (V), (C 16 H 22 N 2 ) 3 (Bi 2 Br 9 ) 2 (VI), and (C 18 H 26 N 2 ) 3 (Bi 2 Br 9 ) 2 (VII), are synthesized in concentrated HBr and characterized by physicochemical methods. The structures of complexes I-VII are studied by X-ray structure analysis (C… Show more

“…In fact, they associate the virtues of the two distinct classes of materials showing interesting features for optoelectronic applications and offering the possibility of having new functional species. Among these systems, several structure types have been reported to date, all of which show great promise for energy-related applications [2][3][4]. They are used in many fields as they integrate the functionality of inorganic species (optical, thermal, electronic properties, semiconducting behaviour, etc.)…”
