“…Their study also showed that the country has a significant impact. Kaptein (2004) Hood and Logsdon (2002) for the US, Canada, and Mexico, Maignan and Ralston (2002) for the US, the UK, France, and the Netherlands, Reich (2005) for Germany, Japan, and the US, Lindfelt (2004) for Finland, Singh et al (2005) for Australia, Canada, and Sweden, and Melé et al (2006) for Argentina, Brazil, and Spain. “…We look into the different attributes of the firm's relation with ethics and investigate whether and how they differ between firms operating in different countries. Hood and Logsdon (2002) and Singh et al (2005) Langlois and Schlegelmilch (1990), Hood and Logsdon (2002), Kaptein (2004), and Singh et al (2005). But there are some important differences.…”

“…Hofstede (1980;2001) documented differences between Mexico and the US in power distance, individualism/collectivism, and uncertainty avoidance. In a study published soon after the implementation of NAFTA in 1994, Hood & Logsdon (2002) predict that there will be a greater appreciation of rules based ethical standards in Mexico due a higher level of uncertainty avoidance and that the higher level of power distance in Mexico could lead to ethical issues because there would be less questioning of superiors in Mexico. It is also documented in the more recent literature that one of the cultural differences documented by Hofstede (1980;2001), power distance, may have mitigated over time (e.g., Stammerjohan, Leach, & Stammerjohan, 2015;and Anderson 2018, who both find evidence that the differences in power distance between US and Mexican samples are no longer significant).…”

“…Some of the issues examined here are: the infusion of spiritually-based principles and values (derived from religions and their secular equivalents) in international business ethics to create moral freedom in multinational firms (Jackson, 1999;Saeed et al, 2001); the identification of similarities and differences in ethical attitudes between managers from different cultures when evaluating ethical 'hypernorms' and 'local norms' (Bailey & Spiger, 2007); and the association of cultural dimensions (i.e., individualism, uncertainty, masculinity, and power distance) on ethical policies, such as prevention and control of bribery/corruption, following a human rights policy and a code of ethics/systems (Schlegelmilch & Robertson, 1995;Hood & Logsdon, 2002;Scholtens & Dam, 2007).…”
