Butane-1,4-diamine zinc(II) hydrogen phosphite

Abstract: The title compound, poly[zinc(II)-mu-butane-1,4-diamine-mu-(hydrogen phosphito)] (C(4)H(12)N(2))(0.5)[ZnHPO(3)], is a hybrid organic-inorganic solid built up from 1,4-diaminobutane molecules, Zn(2+) cations (coordinated by three O atoms and one N atom) and HPO(3)(2-) hydrogen phosphite groups. The organic species bonds to the Zn atom as an unprotonated ligand, resulting in it acting as a bridge between infinite ZnHPO(3) layers, which propagate in (100). The complete butane-1,4-diamine species is generated from… Show more

“…In (C 6 N 2 H 8 ) 0.5 ZnHPO 3 [4], 1,4-diaminobenzene acts in a similar way to en to result in polyhedral sheets showing a 6 3 -topology [5]. Conversely, when 1,4-diaminibutane acts as the bridge in (H 2 N[CH 2 ] 4 NH 2 ) 0.5 ZnHPO 3 [6], 4.8 2 polyhedral sheets arise from the connectivity of the ZnO 3 N and HPO 3 units. (H 2 NCH 2 CH 2 NH 2 ) 0.5 ZnHPO 3 is polymorphic: the b form [7] is pillared whereas the a modification [8] displays an asyet unique interpenetrating structure akin to some coordination polymers.…”

“…When the topological nets of adjacent sheets were examined, the four-membered circuits of one sheet were seen to overlie the eight-membered circuits of the next (Figure ). The uninodal 4.8 2 net has been recognized as a two-dimensional network, and more recently, 4.8 2 connected nodes have been found to occur in a number of coordination polymeric and inorganic networks . Two of the coordination polymeric systems and all of the inorganic systems displayed two-dimensional 4.8 2 sheets as part of a three-dimensional supramolecular array, 42a,c, whereas the other two-dimensional coordination polymeric systems occur as both interpenetrated 42d,e,i and non-interpenetrated 42a,b,f,g,h,j two-dimensional structures.…”
