Few studies have investigated the association between dispatcher-assisted cardiopulmonary resuscitation (DA-CPR) performance and the outcomes of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) among communities with different socioeconomic statuses (SES). A retrospective cohort study was conducted using an Utstein-style population OHCA database in Tainan, Taiwan, between January 2014 and December 2015. SES was defined based on real estate prices. The outcome measures included the achievement of return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) and the performance of DA-CPR. Statistical significance was set at a two-tailed p-value of less than 0.05. A total of 2928 OHCA cases were enrolled in the high SES (n = 1656, 56.6%), middle SES (n = 1025, 35.0%), and low SES (n = 247, 8.4%) groups. The high SES group had a significantly higher prehospital ROSC rate, ever ROSC rate, and sustained ROSC rate and good neurologic outcomes at discharge (all p < 0.005). The low SES group, compared to the high and middle SES groups, had a significantly longer dispatcher recognition time (p = 0.004) and lower early (≤60 s) recognition rate (p = 0.029). The high SES group, but none of the DA-CPR measures, had significant associations with sustained ROSC in the multivariate regression model. The low SES group was associated with a longer time to dispatcher recognition of cardiac arrest and worse outcomes of OHCA. Strategies to promote public awareness of cardiac arrest could be tailored to neighborhood SES.

Objective: It has been proved that bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) saves lives and it is important to rise the willingness of the general population to help cardiac arrest victims. The primary objective of the present study is to assess the levels of the knowledge and attitude toward CPR among the young population who underwent the largest CPR training session in an official attempt to enter the Guinness Book of Records. Methods: Through a cross-sectional design, the study had 2,528 subjects, who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria during the largest CPR training session at the King Abdul-Aziz Sports City Stadium, Makkah city, Saudi Arabia. Results: Descriptive statistics showed that two-thirds (72%) of the subjects were in the age category of less than 20 years. At least 50% of the subjects had a Bachelor’s degree. Overall, the findings of this study suggested a good level of knowledge and attitude against CPR and this is might be attributed to certain factors which are mainly the high level of education, age, and gender factors ( P value < 0.05). Conclusion: Our findings support the need for proper and high-quality training for each member in the community about CPR as well as using social media and online training to highlight the importance of CPR among the young population.

Introdução: A estratégia educacional deve estar ligada ao estágio de desenvolvimento da criança e as atividades lúdicas podem ser utilizadas no processo ensino-aprendizagem. Objetivo: Identificar as estratégias metodológicas utilizadas no ensino de primeiros socorros para escolares. Métodos: Revisão de escopo realizada em março de 2020, em oito fontes de dados nacionais e internacionais. Seguiram-se as recomendações do Instituto Joanna Briggs. Resultados: Incluíram-se 13 estudos de 2013 a 2018. As estratégias metodológicas mais observadas foram: treinamento teórico associado às habilidades práticas, uso do PowerPoint, vídeos, fotos, manequins, desfibrilador externo automático, objetos lúdicos como gaze, ataduras e curativos, roda de conversa interativa, elaboração de situações problemas fictícias, simulação de feridas e queimaduras com xarope e maquiagem, entrega de panfletos informativos, pintura de desenhos, kits de autoinstrução, jogos digitais, de tabuleiro e show de dramatização com marionetes. Quem mais utilizou essas metodologias foram profissionais da saúde, professores e instrutores. Conclusão: Principais estratégias encontradas: elaboração de situações problemas, utilização de jogos e manequins.
