“…The first study investigating possible clinical and hemodynamic associations of tumor markers with chronic HF was published by Nagele et al 16 The authors investigated various tumor markers in patients with severe HF both before and after cardiac transplantation and showed a direct correlation between CA 125 levels and right atrial pressure (r ¼ 0.41, p ¼ 0.0001) and pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (r ¼ 0.27, p ¼ 0.001). They also demonstrated an increase in serum CA 125 levels in both advanced HF patients with possible fluid accumulation and mild HF patients with no expected serosal effusion compared with healthy controls.…”
