“…Indeed, we have previously demonstrated that NCRAE has the ability in vitro to enhance glucose uptake in L6 muscle cell line and does not act on hepatic glucagon-induced glycogenolysis via hepatic glucose 6 phosphatase activity (Azay-Milhau et al, 2013). The results on L6 muscular cells are in agreement with the report of Lee et al (2007) on the same in vitro model. Here, we have shown that SCCAM possess a similar capacity that NCRAE to enhance the glucose uptake on the L6 cells, indicating the value of the mixture of chicoric acid and chlorogenic acid on insulin sensitivity.…”

“…Although the role of AMPK in cardiovascular disorders, including obesity and diabetes, is well understood, its role in inflammatory and demyelinating disease including EAE is yet to be established. Several pharma- cological compounds, including 5-aminoimidazole-4-carboxamide ribonucleotide (14), resveratrol (34), caffeic acid phenethyl ester (35), lipoic acid (36), curcumin (37), and metformin (12), activate AMPK and also attenuate EAE disease progression (11,(38)(39)(40)(41). These pharmacological agents may modulate immune response through both AMPK-dependent and -independent pathways.…”
