“…Following our previous research on plant materials used as tea (Melucci et al, 2013), foods (Sobolev et al, 2018;Di Sotto et al, 2018), food supplements , traditional herbal medicine , and their content of toxic/heavy metals (Locatelli et al, 2014;Melucci et al, 2018), we highlight and complete here the phytochemical information on this traditionally used medicinal plant.…”

“…The α-amylase activity was determined by the method of dinitrosalicilic acid (DNSA), according to Di Sotto et al [71], with minor changes. To perform the assay, serial dilutions of the extract (250 μl; 1-100 μg/mL final concentration, 1:2 to 1:5 dilution factor) were pre-incubated with α-amylase (250 μL; 0.5 mg/mL in phosphate buffer solution, corresponding to 25 U/mL) for 10 minutes at 37 °C.…”

“…According to the Pearson analysis, the scavenger activities against DPPH and ABTS radicals were significantly correlated for both DR2B and DR2C extracts (Tables 5 and 6), although they exhibited higher potency against ABTS respect to DPPH radical (2.6 and 3.4 folds respectively). DPPH is a pre-existing radical, which can be neutralized by electron or hydrogen transfer, thus forming a stable diamagnetic molecule; conversely, ABTS cation, generated just before the experiments through different activators, requires an electron-transfer process to be scavenged and is more reactive than DPPH [62]. These important chemical features can lead to different affinities and kinetics reactions and in the scavenging potencies.…”

“…The total polyphenol and flavonoid content was determined according to Di Sotto et al [62]. The total polyphenol content was calculated as chlorogenic acid equivalents (CAE) per milligram of sample, while total flavonoids were expressed as QE per milligram of sample.…”
