Captopril-polyethyleneimine conjugate modified gold nanoparticles for co-delivery of drug and gene in anti-angiogenesis breast cancer therapy

Abstract: Captopril-polyethyleneimine (CP) containing low molecular weight polyethyleneimine and anti-angiogenesis drug captopril conjugated via an amide bond was fabricated to modify gold nanoparticles and complex with siRNA to construct siRNA/CP/GNP complexes for the co-delivery of drug and siRNA in anti-angiogenesis breast cancer therapy. The self-assembled siRNA/CP/GNP complexes exhibited desirable and homogenous particle size, reasonable positive charges and condensation ability, and effective gene-silencing proper… Show more

“…It has been generally recognized that successful chemotherapy for cancer relies on the aid of other assistant approaches for improved bioavailability. [10][11][12] For the past decades, many smart DDS capable of encapsulating and targeted delivering the chemotherapeutic agents to the tumor tissue have been proposed, including organic ones such as polymeric micelles 13 and liposomes, 14 as well as inorganic candidates such as calcium carbonate, 15 gold nanoparticles, 16 and silica nanoparticles (SiLN). 17,18 Among these DDS, SiLN has been identified as a preferable carrier due to its ease of preparation, modification, as well as high drug-loading capacity and biocompatibility.…”

“…Various amine groups could give sufficient active sites for strong combining capability, and these characteristics of PEI can be useful to control the selectivity of different ions. For its application, AuNPs conjugated with PEI (PEI-AuNPs) have been utilized as delivery of drug and gene in breast cancer therapy [ 23 ].…”
