Caracterização Da Coleta Seletiva Em Mundo Novo/MS

Abstract

Diante do volume crescente de resíduos sólidos gerados e dos diversos impactos negativos decorrentes da disposição inadequada dos mesmos, torna-se necessária a adoção de estratégias para a gestão integrada, sendo a coleta seletiva e, posteriormente, a reciclagem prevista na Política Nacional de Resíduos Sólidos. No município de Mundo Novo/MS, a coleta seletiva é realizada por integrantes da Associação dos Recicladores Ambientais Mundonovenses (ARAM). Entretanto, não há informações sistematizadas sobre o material coletado e a destinação do mesmo. Assim, vislumbrou-se a pertinência de caracterizar os resíduos sólidos coletados pelos integrantes da ARAM em 2015. Foram realizadas entrevistas aos atores envolvidos e visitas aos locais de manejo dos resíduos. Do total de resíduos produzidos no município, aproximadamente 12% é coletado pelos integrantes da ARAM. A coleta seletiva ocorre apenas para resíduos de papel, metal e plástico, que totalizaram 596,2 toneladas em 2015, sendo 56,3, 32,2 e 11,5% a contribuição de cada material, respectivamente. A coleta seletiva realizada em Mundo Novo/MS contribuiu de maneira significativa para o desvio de materiais que seriam destinados ao aterro municipal, representando um potencial de redução no consumo de recursos naturais e de poluição ambiental. Recomenda-se que o município proporcione condições para o aperfeiçoamento da coleta seletiva realizada pelos catadores contribuindo para a gestão adequada dos resíduos sólidos urbanos.
