Abstract:El ictus isquémico es una enfermedad altamente prevalente en la población general, causando importante morbilidad y mortalidad; la enfermedad carotídea aterosclerótica es una de las principales causas de éste. Se hizo una revisión de los principales métodos de imagen no invasivos para el diagnóstico y la caracterización de las placas carotídeas vulnerables.
