“…The significant correlation between dietary vitamin B 12 intake and the corresponding biomarker supports this finding. Moreover, experimental studies substantiate the finding of the teratogenic effect of mild hyperhomocysteinemia [33]. Our data suggest that hyperhomocysteinemia in the subgroup of case-mothers can partly be explained by the significantly lower vitamin B 6 intake and low folate and vitamin B 12 status.…”

“…Some studies have used L-Hcysthiolactone rather than the thiol form of D,L-Hcys because of its greater stability and because the thiol form of Hcys is only available as a D,L-isomer mixture (Rosenquist et al, 1996;Epeldegui et al, 2002;Boot et al, 2004a). However, thiolactone alone can have biological activities independent from the thiol form of Hcys (Jakubowski, 1997;Jakubowski et al, 2000).…”

“…Grupę kontrolną (GK) stanowiły 54 pary matek i ich zdrowe dzieci. Próbki krwi matki i krwi pępowinowej pobierano w celu oznaczenia stężenia tHcy, kwasu foliowego i witaminy B 12 . W Y N I K I : Stężenie tHcy u noworodków z WWS było znamiennie wyższe niż u ich matek oraz u dzieci z WCN.…”
