Cardiogoniometry

Abstract: Summary: Cardiogoniometry is a new method to test heart function. It consists of a simple computerized vectorcardiography with a system of leads derived for the construction of three orthogonal projections. With the aid of these three-dimensional projections the cardiogoniometer, a microprocessor system, measures and computes the maximal vectors of depolariza.tion (~RS) and repolarization (T). It also fixes the OrIentatIon of these two spatial vectors by projection on two planes (frontal and oblique sagittal… Show more

“…Cardiogoniometry is a new vectorcardiographic method recently described by Sanz and co-workers (Saner et al .• 1982;Sanz et al, 1983). The simplified model developed by this author requires only 4 electrodes instead of the usual 7 to 14 for calculation of the maximal QRS and T vectors in the oblique sagittal and frontal plane and for computation of the true angle between them.…”

“…They constituted a cohort of patients who were consecutively admitted to the Department of Cardiology, Bern University Hospital over a 12-month period to undergo elective coronary angiography. Prior to coronary angiography, the study data were collected by resting 5-lead CGM on the supine patient using a proprietary CGM prototype [19,20] equipped with software run at a 1000-Hz sampling rate and 16-bit resolution. During the recording, the patients were requested to hold their breath for 12-15 s after normal expiration.…”

“…Therefore, the exercise ECG has been established as the standard method in a primary setting for detection of CAD in patients with suspected stable angina pectoris or without symptoms. However, exercise ECGs are often not meaningful due to limited stress capacity of the patient or are even contraindicated (4). CGM is a novel electrodiagnostic method that analyzes three-dimensional information on cardiac potentials (5,6).…”
