Cardiovascular diseases diagnosis by impedance cardiography

Abstract: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) represents the leading cause of mortality worldwide. In order to diagnose CVDs, there are a range of detection methods, among them, the impedance cardiography technique (ICG). It is a non-invasive and low-cost method. In this paper, we highlight recent advances and developments of the CDVs diagnosis mainly by the ICG method. We considered papers published during the last five years (from 2017 until 2022). Based on this study, we expressed the need for an ICG database for the differ… Show more

“…As it is shown, all points lie near of the control straight line, revealing that the chosen model replicates the observations. By far, this study is focused on the phase angle prediction due to importance concerning the state of health of individuals [4][5][6]. As it is shown in Figures 6a and b, the phase angle values are well reproduced from the data of intra-and extracellular water according to Kotler.…”

“…Bioimpedance spectroscopy has gained more interest in the field of medicine [1][2][3]. For instance, impedance cardiography for monitoring of heart activity by measuring the impedance of a thorax [4,5]. It can be noted its relevance in the pumping activity of the heart, contrary to electrocardiography, which reflects the heart electrical activity [4,5].…”

“…Impedance cardiography is one noninvasive and well-validated tool for assessing cardiovascular hemodynamics based on the phenomenon of impedance variation of a given body segment related to blood flow in large arterial vessels. Blood circulating in the vascular system is characterised by a relatively low impedance in relation to the surrounding tissues, and its variability over time allows the assessment of many important haemodynamic parameters (12,(19)(20)(21)(22)(23).…”
