Carideicomes alvinocaridis gen. nov., sp. nov., a marine bacterium isolated from shrimp gill in a hydrothermal field of Okinawa Trough

Abstract: A Gram-stain-negative, strictly aerobic, oval-shaped, non-motile bacterium with no flagella, designated strain SCR17T, was isolated from a shrimp gill habitat in Tangyin hydrothermal field of Okinawa Trough. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain SCR17T formed a lineage within the family ‘ Rhodobacteraceae ’, and shared 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity of 93.2–96.2 % to the related gener… Show more

“…There were approximately 199 recognized genera in the family at the time of writing (https://lpsn.dsmz.de/family/rhodobacteraceae). More than 10 genera have been described in the last 5 years, including Aestuariicoccus [2], Aestuariibius [3], Acidimangrovimonas [4], Aliishimia [5], Histidinibacterium [6], Harenicla [7], Heliomarina [8], Mesobacterium [8], Meridianimarinicoccus [9], Carideicomes [10] and Pelagovum [11]. These species were isolated from diverse ecological environments, including tidal flat [2, 3], mangrove sediment [4], marine alga [6], hydrothermal field [10], marine sediment [7] and seawater [5, 8, 9, 11].…”
