“…Three of these papers were concerned with the long‐term outcome after surgery, and were multicentre studies (Matthiesen and others 1992, Montgomery and others 1993, Pirkey‐Ehrhart and others 1995). The remaining data come from surveys of canine bone tumours (Cotchin 1963, Ling and others 1974, Knecht 1978, Cooley and Waters 1997) or specific histological types of tumours which may arise in the bone (Brodey and others 1959, 1963, 1974, Brodey 1965, 1977, Wolke and Nielsen 1966, Hamilton and Kight 1973, Brodey and Abt 1976, Dorfman and others 1977, LaRue and others 1986, Heyman and others 1992, Popovitch and others 1994, Hammer and others 1995), individual case reports of tumours affecting the chest wall (Bundza and others 1979, Fukata and others 1986, Jennings and others 1990, Madarame and others 1998, Yuen 2000) or reports of surgical methods likely to be required for the surgical management of these tumours (Brasmer 1971, Aronsohn 1984, Bowman and others 1998). In total, these reports describe 249 dogs with chest wall tumours, including 155 with documented follow‐up data.…”
