Catalytic effect of different reactor materials under subcritical water conditions: decarboxylation of cysteic acid into taurine

Abstract: Abstract. In order to understand the influence of reactor materials on the catalytic effect for a particular reaction, the decomposition of cysteic acid from Ni/Fe-based alloy reactors under subcritical water conditions was examined. Experiments were carried out in three batch reactors made of Inconel 625, Hastelloy C-22 and SUS 316 over temperatures of 200 to 300 ℃. The highest amount of eluted metals was found for SUS 316.
