Catanionic surfactant ambient cloud point extraction and high-performance liquid chromatography for simultaneous analysis of organophosphorus pesticide residues in water and fruit juice samples

Abstract: A mixed anionic-cationic surfactant cloud point extraction (CPE) has been developed using sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBABr) for the extraction and preconcentration of organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs) at ambient temperature before analysis by high-performance liquid chromatography. The studied OPPs were azinphos-methyl, parathion-methyl, fenitrothion, diazinon, chlorpyrifos, and prothiophos. The optimum conditions of the mixed anionic-cationic CPE were 50 mmol L(-1) SDS, 100 … Show more

“…The use of pesticides to control pests is of enormous importance, both for reducing crop yield losses and improving food quality (Aktar, Sengupta, & Chowdhury, ; Cooper & Dobson, ; Fantke & Juraske, ). Advances in pesticide application have played an important role in increasing agricultural productivity because of the pesticides' significant potency and low economic costs (Lambropoulou, Sakkas, & Albanis, ; Olsson, Nguyen, Sadowski, & Barr, ; Seebunrueng, Santaladchaiyakit, Soisungnoen, & Srijaranai, ; Sun et al, ), thus endowing pesticides with agricultural and economic value (Patil, ). However, the health effects of gradual low‐level exposure to pesticides that may contaminate agricultural commodities are increasingly attracting attention (Fantke & Juraske, ; Slovic, ).…”

“…A number of reports have concerned the use of the CPE approach as a means by which to extract and enrich inorganic, organic, and biological analytes prior to spectroscopic, chromatographic, or CE analysis [14][15][16][17][18][19][20]. In this work, dual CPE (dCPE) was firstly developed for extraction of PEEs from water samples.…”

“…The reference method of HPLC was used here [33] in order to evaluate the accuracy of the proposed paper-based CL method. After spraying 2.0 mL different concentration of DDV standard solution on the cabbage leaves and tomato skin, 20 mL methanol was used to elute the DDV.…”
