Cell Line Derived from a Murine Sarcoma Virus (Moloney Pseudotype)-Induced Tumor: Cultural, Antigenic, and Virological Properties

Abstract: A cell line derived from a murine sarcoma virus (Moloney pseudotype)-induced tumor has been established. It retains oncogenicity, releases both sarcoma and leukemia viruses, and has virus-induced cellular antigens.

“…Furthermore, we have screened media conditioned by several murine and human cell lines of lymphoid (EL-4, P815, RBL-5, RAJI, BJB, BJB-GC,) andnonlymphoid (SV40-3T3, Mc-lOT?h, MSC,) origin. As would be expected from earlier descriptions of Sarcoma Growth Factor by his colleagues (1977,1978), only the MSC cell line established from a rhabdomyosarcoma induced by murine (Moloney) sarcoma virus (Massicot et al, 1971) produced activity mitogenic for fibroblasts. For a mitogen to be operationally defined as a competence factor, three principal criteria must be satisfied.…”
