Cerrahi hastalarda malnutrisyon sıklığı ve morbidite ile mortalite üzerine olan etkileri

Abstract: Amaç: Genel cerrahi servisine yatırılan benign ve malign hastalığı olan hastalardaki malnutrisyon sıklığını saptamak, malnutrisyonun tanınmasında kullanılan yöntemleri değerlendirmek ve malnutrisyonun postoperatif komplikasyon gelişimindeki rolünü incelemektir. Hastalar ve Yöntem: Şubat 2004-Mayıs 2005 tarihleri arasında Genel Cerrahi kliniği'nde opere edilen 723 hastada, beş ayrı yöntemle (nutrisyonel risk indeksi, subjektif global değerlendirme, kilo kaybı oranı, serum albümin düzeyi, vücut kitle indeksi) ma… Show more

“…In a study conducted in Turkey, the rate of malnutrition varies between 20-50%. When the risk ratio is examined according to the clinics, this rate is 5.8% in orthopedic surgery, 8.6% in general surgery, 10.9% in cardiac surgery, and 18.2% in thoracic surgery (Güler and Tireli, 2018). By providing adequate nutrition before and after the surgery, the negative consequences of surgical stress on the body may reduce such as preventing the catabolic state, decreasing the morbidity and mortality rate, the risk of wound infection, and anastomotic leakage (Gillis et al, 2015).…”

“…12,13 In Turkey, the Clinical Enteral Parenteral Nutrition Association (KEPAN) recommends Nutrition Risk Screening (NRS) or Subjective Global Assessment (SGA) screening to detect the risk of malnutrition in hospitalized patients. [14][15][16] In hospitals affiliated with the Turkish Ministry of Health, NRS is applied to each patient during hospitalization. Patients with a diagnosis of malnutrition risk are referred to a nutrition support team for diet modification.…”

“…In addition to the increased individual health expenditures of malnourished patients, national health expenditures are reported to increase by 2.1% to 10.0% due to this condition 8,10. Although several international studies11–14 assessed malnutrition risk at the time of hospital admission, a wide range of malnutrition risk rates (15%-78%) was reported in these studies. There are several methods for malnutrition risk screening and the one chosen for malnutrition screening should consider patients' age and health status 12,13…”
