“…The study shows that the participants desired employers to make an effort so women can accomplish both the work and family roles without one having any undesirable consequence on the other. The findings support the study on how women with scientific careers were able to advance further when family commitment was balanced with career (Ahmed et al, 2020a,2020b). For the participants in this study, family-supportive policies are needed to have worklife balance.…”

“…If the government, the education institutions, and media work collaboratively, they can influence the families in shaping the decisions and directions of education stream for their girls. The social barriers require collective awareness and representation of successful women making a positive impact in STEM (Ahmed, et al., 2020a, 2020b). Scholarly studies outside Bangladesh show the positive impact of supportive environment such as mentoring (Dawson et al, 2015; Thomas et al, 2015) and support networks (Feeney & Bernal, 2010).…”

“…While the causes of this are still being discussed, some have come to the conclusion that they are related to family values (Alfred et al, 2019), gendered socialization (Yavorsky et al, 2022), or stereotypes (Eagly & Koenig, 2021), not to mention lack of support, demeaning comments, and even sexual harassment (Abalkhail, 2017;Ahmed et al, 2020;Cooper & Wilson-Jones, 2023).…”
