“…As in blood, uric acid is the main water‐soluble antioxidant in saliva (Moore et al., 1994). The difference lies in albumin contributing to the antioxidant profile for blood (Sozarukova et al., 2016). Thus, based on changes in salivary antioxidant potential, we can suppose that studies of the systemic influence of psychological comfort on ROS homeostasis would be promising.…”

“…The CL parameters (Imax, S) also exceeded the control group's values and depended on disease severity. The intensity of induced CL (Imax) in the blood serum reflects the potential ability of lipid substrates to form highly active electron-excited products [ 22 , 23 ]. Accordingly, the registered increased Imax values confirm the activation of free radical reactions in all examined COPD patients.…”

“…According to the results obtained, we can assume that the tangent of the chemiluminescence rise angle (tg α) characterizes the oxidation of albumin: the more oxidized the albumin, the lower the value of tg α. The chemiluminograms were characterized by complex kinetics, each component of which can be described by quantitative indices (Figure 3b) [38], where ICL-a new level of steady-state luminescence after the addition of albumin, tg α-the tangent of the chemiluminescence rise angle and SCL-area of chemiluminescence suppression. According to our non-published data, the difference ICL − I0 reflects the level of the non-oxidized group -SH, i.e., the concentration of mercaptoalbumin.…”
