The scientific understanding of social trust is important for the preservation of a stable system of state and political institutions and the search for optimal conditions for the formation of civil society institutions in modern Russian society. The article presents the results of the analysis of trust-building factors in the context of maintaining the social security of the border regions of the Russian Federation. Based on the data from a sociological study conducted in six regions (Altai Territory, Amur Region, Omsk Region, Orenburg Region, Altai Republic, Khabarovsk Territory), models of factors for the formation of social trust in clusters with different security potential were obtained. It was revealed that in regions with conditionally integral, crisis and low levels of social security, the conditions for ensuring certain areas of security come to the fore. It was established that in regions with a conditionally integral and low level of social security, almost identical models of social trust factors were obtained, which can indicate the similarity of estimates of these indicators by experts of these subjects. The conclusion was made about the interdependence of social security and social trust, which are the foundation for the formation of civil society institutions in modern Russia.
