Characteristics of Poly(vinyl Alcohol) (PVA) Based Composites Integrated with Green Synthesized Al3+-Metal Complex: Structural, Optical, and Localized Density of State Analysis

Abstract: The influence of dispersing Al-metal complex on the optical properties of PVA was investigated using UV–visible spectroscopy. Polymer composite films with various Al3+-complex amounts in the PVA matrix were arranged by solution casting technique by means of distilled water as a widespread solvent. The formation of Al3+-metal complex was verified through Ultraviolet–visible (UV-Vis) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) examinations. The addition of Al-complex into the polymer matrix led to the rec… Show more

“…Figure 2 illustrates the FTIR spectra of various in the wavenumber range . [ 35 ] All samples show the key characteristic absorption peaks of CS, for instance the vibration of the amino group (NH 2 ), O=C–NHR, and amine NH symmetric. The PVA structure has been connected to C–O plane bending, which commonly occurs at .…”

“…The PVA structure has been connected to C–O plane bending, which commonly occurs at . Furthermore, the peak at is due to C=O stretching of PVA’s acetate group, which is pushed to a lower wavenumber in doped samples [ 35 ].…”

“…The water contamination from the KI salt causes a broad peak at 3400 cm −1 of the O-H stretching band. The observed peak intensity changes as the weight percent of KI salt was increased from 0 to 40 % in the MC-KI electrolyte systems, as shown in Figure 8a,b [43,44]. A peak that appears in the wavenumber region of 2800-2950 cm −1 is corresponding to the C-H stretching mode of methylcellulose.…”

“…A remarkable drop in optical bandgap was observed in our previous work regarding polymer a composite based on the aluminum (III) metal polyphenol complex in a PVA polymer [ 19 ]. Also, adding Co 2+ -polyphenol metal into polymer matrices to enhance their optical properties represented novel research.…”
