Characteristics of the reproduction effectiveness of four Hungarian breeding lines of carp Cyprinus carpio (L.)

Abstract: The effectiveness of reproduction of four Hungarian breeding lines 7, 8, W, and 0 of carp Cyprinus carpio was investigated. The highest percentage of ovulating females after Ovopel stimulation of ovulation (1/5 ? 1 pellet kg -1 BW of females) was found in line 8 (100 %), in line 0, it was 86.21 %, and in lines 7 and W, the respective values were 73.68 and 76.47 %. It was noted that the breeding line significantly (P B 0.05) determined the weight of the eggs (expressed in grams and percentage of female BW), the… Show more

“…Inter-specific surrogate production offers several distinct advantages such as shortening of the reproduction time of long-term maturing species [17,32,42,43] or overcoming problems connected with poor reproduction performance [27]. The reasons for choosing goldfish in surrogate reproduction of carp are: (1) its small body size [44], (2) relatively fast maturation [45], (3) similar reproduction characteristics and management to carp [46], (4) short phylogenetic distance between carp and goldfish when even crossbreeds are viable [47], (5) available technology for recipient sterilization [30], and (6) proven resistance to diseases which represent a serious threat to carp such as Koi herpes virus [48].…”

“…In this context, the Sertoli cells in the recipient gonad may offer support to stained donor germ cells, promoting the development of new cysts. Furthermore, the improved effectiveness of our transplantation approach may also be influenced by shared physiological, reproductive, and phylogenetic characteristics among the selected species ( Taylor and Mahon, 1977 ; Brzuska, 2014 ; Wang et al, 2014 ). Thus, the established transplantation system in this study has considerable advantages for the rapid breeding of farmed fish.…”

“…Балық өнімділігін көтерудің ең тиімді тəсілі индустриалды аквакультура болып тұр. Судың температуралық жəне оттегі жағдайларына оңтайлы жағдай жасау, сондай-ақ азықтандыру нормаларын оңтайландыру арқылы жасанды жағдайда өсіру кезінде балықтардың жыныстық жетілу мерзімі бірнеше есе қысқарады [10][11][12][13][14][15][16].…”
