“…Later studies showed that Re sulfide catalysts supported on Al 2 O 3, SiO 2 or activated carbon were more active, between 2 and 20 times, in the HDS of thiophene than their Mo counterparts [8,9]. More recently, we found that Al 2 O 3 [10] and carbon-supported Re catalysts [11] were also highly active in the HDS and hydrodenitrogenation (HDN) of a commercial gas oil compared to supported Mo catalysts. Moreover, it was found that the improvement in HDS and HDN activity with Re loading was accompanied by a significant increase in the HDN/HDS selectivity for both Al 2 O 3 and activated carbon-supported catalysts.…”
