Characterization of volume holographic recording in photopolymerizable nanoparticle-(thiol-ene) polymer composites at 404 nm

Abstract: We report on the photopolymerization dynamics and the volume holographic recording properties of a thiol-ene based nanoparticle-polymer composite (NPC) doped with a blue-sensitive photoinitiator, Darocur V R TPO, by using a highly coherent blue diode laser operating at a wavelength of 404 nm. Our study indicates that volume gratings recorded in the NPC amount to meeting the material requirements of refractive index modulation and material recording sensitivity for holographic data storage media. It is also fou… Show more

“…This TE-based NPC system gave as large as , S as high as 1615 cm/J and as low as 0.4%, satisfying the acceptable condition of 0.005, S 500 cm/J and 0.5% for HDS media [ 27 ]. Later, volume holographic recording in TE-based NPCs incorporating nanoparticles at a violet-blue wavelength (404 nm) was also reported [ 77 ].…”

“…This shrinkage problem can be relaxed to some extent by the addition of chain transfer agents by which rapid gelation is delayed and thereby shrinkage can be reduced [ 71 , 72 ]. In order to mitigate shrinkage further, we proposed the use of thiol-ene (TE)/thiol-yne (TY) monomers capable of free radical step growth polymerization in NPCs and showed a substantive reduction in shrinkage as low as 0.4 % without decreasing and S [ 73 77 ].…”

“…При этом усадка плен-ки толщиной 20 µm составляла 2.9%. Для тиольных фотополимеризующихся сред, содержащих наночастицы SiO 2 , усадка слоя на длине волны излучения лазерного диода (λ = 404 nm) оказалась выше, чем на длине волны λ = 532 nm [64]. Голографические свойства тиольных композиций, содержащих наночастицы SiO 2 , могут быть улучшены за счет оптимизации мономерного состава композиции [65].…”

“…In this regard, the conjugated semiconducting polymers such as poly (3-hexyl thiophene) (P3-HT), 21,22 polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT: PSS) 14,23,24 and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) 11,12,25 have been identified as primary materials for optoelectronic microdevice applications. In addition, several smart polymeric composites have also been prepared by blending these conducting polymers with biocompatible functional co-polymers for tuning the electronic conductivity, 26,27 mechanical flexibility, 28,29 and thermal stability 7,30 in thin-film structures. Also, the application of these semiconducting polymers as smart optoelectronic skins 31,32 has now become a new trend in wearable electronics for multiple anisotropic response detection.…”
