Chemical Compositions of Passiflora Edulis Seeds Oil Collected in Vietnam

Abstract: The present research was aimed to study the chemical compositions of Passiflora edulis Sims seeds oil, including the fatty acid profiles, contents of tocopherols, sterols, and triglycerides. The seeds oil yield is 24.88% by using Soxhlet method. Passiflora edulis seeds oil showed high levels of unsaturated fatty acids (89.25%) with main ingredient linoleic acid (w-6, 66.94%) and oleic acid (w-6, 18.86%). Tocopherols (18.04 mg/kg), sterols (2935.35 mg/kg) and triglycerides (monomere TAG, 74.11%) are also determ… Show more

“…The 55% of the blackberry production is destined to fresh fruit household consumption, while about 20% is sold to the agroindustry for the preparation of juices, pulps, preserved food fruits candies, and colorants (SIOC 2021). The oil from Passiflora seeds has considerable content of unsaturated fatty acids (Ballesteros-Vivas et al 2019a;Ramaiya et al 2019;Cuong et al 2019;Pantoja-Chamorro et al 2017a) being an important source of these compounds for the cosmetic and food industries (Malacrida and Jorge 2012;Pantoja-Chamorro et al 2017b). The cosmetic industry appreciated the natural products with a high content of linoleic and linolenic acid for the high antioxidant and skincare properties (Urbanavičiūtė et al 2019).…”
